Spike Jonze

American film director, Spike Jonze, was born Adam Spiegel October 22, 1969, Rockville, Maryland. Heir to his father's catalog fortune, he moved to Los Angeles at the age of seventeen to work as a an editorial assistent for a biker magazine, Freestylin'. While in LA he filmed his first music video footage of skateboarding for the rock band, Sonic Youth.
All through the 1990s, Jonze directed many more music videos for other major artists. He began to play some small parts in a few films and in the late 1990s he started directing films, such as, Being John Malkovich in 1999.
He has won many awards for his films in particular for the film, Her, he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay, the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay, and the 2014 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He was also nominated for four Academy Awards.
