Sara Fanelli

Italian born, Sara Fanelli, now lives in London writing and illustrating children’s books. She came over from Italy to study at the Camberwell College of Art and went on to graduate from the Royal College of Art in 1995. Over her career she has been very successful, has won D&AD silver awards and been the overall winner of the Victoria and Albert Illustration Award twice. Fanelli creates her illustrations by drawing them and then making them into collages using things like sweet wrappers, labels and wallpaper. She doesn’t use a computer and feels they are overused by designers.
I think her work is really intriguing and quirky. It has a very organic and fun feeling as well as having a lot of depth and meaning to it. Every character she creates seems to have its own personality.
