Designers Republic

Founded by Ian Anderson, a University of Sheffield Philosophy graduate, and Nick Philips, a sculpture graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, in 1986, Design Republic is a British graphic design studio. It is based in their home-town Sheffield, South Yorkshire. They have designed for a wide variety of media types; packaging, logo design, music video production, apparel design, web design, typography and, in particular, album artwork for electronic music.
To me Design Republic’s work appears to be heavily influenced by Japanese styles of illustration and design, like anime, as well as a bit of Constructivism in there. Their style is fun, bright and incorporates quite a bit of sarcasm and irony, especially in logos or brand slogans, which were sometimes seen as controversial.
Seven years ago the greater part of the Designers Republic studio closed but it is still in business even though it's on much smaller scale. And though many of the original members have left, Ian Anderson is still pushing the company forward to achieve the best they can.
