Sarah Bowker Jones - What shape is your art practice?

Although Sarah Bowker Jones' lecture was aimed at fine art students and most of it didn't really apply to graphic designers and their work, she did make some very good points that could apply to any creative area. Such as, collaborate and try new things, exhibit, keep pushing your ideas make the most of opportunities and most of all be excited about your work!
She gave some examples of people that had been artists and then become curators, and visa-versa, making the point that there is more than just being the actual artist (or designer). If people prefer and are better at organisational, critique or business skills but still love art (or design) there is a place for them in the creative industries.
One point I found particularly encouraging was that having just moved back to Wales she really believed anyone can make a living and have a good career in North Wales. Some of the other lectures, I have heard this week, say travel is the best thing ever! Not that Sarah didn't encourage travel, she did, but just that you don't need to live in London or somewhere like that to have a good job that you enjoy.
