Lars von Trier

Lars von Trier, born 1956 in Copenhagen, is a Danish film maker. He was originally named Lars Trier, but he assumed the 'von' after he was nick-named "von Trier" whilst attending the National Film School of Denmark.
He has struggled with phobias, fears and depression as well as having treatment for alcohol and drug addictions. Even though he explained that coming off both drugs and alcohol meant that he might only produce more "[profanity] films". At the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, he was removed because of nazi-related jokes he made.
From my research I have concluded that his film style and content is both inappropriate and detrimental.
